"Think
of that thing that makes you feel really excited and really scared all at the
same time and do that". Those are the words a friend of mine shared with
me and that, in part, led to the inception of this blog.
I have been on WW for
just over a year now and have lost approximately 40 lbs.
Before I started the
program I had lost nearly that same amount but had reached a plateau of sorts
in which I seemed to gain and lose the same 10-15 lbs.
This went on for
several years and I think I had mentally and emotionally given up breaking
through this slump and making a change.
Last summer I found myself
sitting on the couch and thinking "I'm smart enough to lose weight. I'm
physically capable of losing weight. So why don't I lose weight? Why don't I do
it?".
This prompted me to go
to the computer and Google "cognitive behavioral therapy for weight loss"
which led me to The Beck Diet Solution by Judith Beck PhD.
The greatest gift in
this book, for me, was that it helped me address all the sabotaging thoughts I
had about myself and my weight.
One of the many small
steps in the book was to have a personal diet coach. Of course the immediate
knee jerk response was "How can I afford a personal coach?! I'm never
going to be able to do this".
Then I started reading
about Weight Watcher's new program that included personal coaching and I signed
up. This was much cheaper in comparison to hiring a personal trainer or
dietitian.
I found that it took
some trial and error to find the right fit for me but finally found not only a
coach but a true friend.
The coaching in
addition to the weekly meetings, my wonderful leader and all my many WW friends
have been a significant part of my personal success and I am so thankful for
them all.
So here I am, Day 1,
ready to greet like minded individuals and hopefully help others with the
experience I've gained over the past year. I am also open and ready to receive
all the wonderful insights, wisdom and encouragement I may find here in turn.
In Joy,
Carrie
